Original, antique, poster: The River Yeo Near Barnstaple, Wherever You Go You Can Be Sure of Shell, designed by Edward McKnight Kauffer, 1932. An atmospheric, nocturnal, view of a bridge crossing over the River Yeo in Devon, executed in a contemporary ‘neo-Romantic’ style and perfectly complimented by bold, modern, lettering.

Probably the greatest poster designer working in interwar Britain, Kauffer produced several outstanding designs for Shell Oil in the 1930s. The posters were displayed on the side of Shell lorries as part of a highly regarded publicity campaign.
