Caledonian Market
Edward G PattersonThis original 1920s London County Council (LCC) Tramways poster promotes the Caledonian Market in Camden – famous at the time as a venue for antiques and second-hand goods. The illustration by Edward G Patterson depicts a typical trader at her bric-a-brac stall, with Bunning’s clock tower in the background. The LCC built a reputation for the quality of its tramway posters during the 1920s, with many designed by students at the Central School of Arts & Crafts. The tram network became part of London Transport in 1933. A higher resolution image of this rare poster is available for viewing on request.
