Gas is precious – use it sparingly
[Eric George Fraser (1902-1983)]An original, and rare, Second World War Home Front poster, Gas is precious – use it sparingly, c. 1939/40. The design features ‘Mr Therm’, an advertising mascot created by the artist and illustrator Eric Fraser for the Gas Light and Coke Company in 1931. The poster was probably published by the British Ministry of Fuel at the outset of the Second World War, and is very similar to known printed publicity issued by the government in September 1939.
