Daphne Padden (1927-2009)Original small format National Savings Bank (NSB) poster designed by Daphne Padden, c.1970. The NSB evolved from the Post Office Savings Bank - the world's first postal savings system founded in 1861 to help ordinary working men and women create savings "to provide for themselves against adversity and ill-health". Daphne Padden designed several posters for the Bank during the 1960s and 70s, together with posters for the British Transport Commission, British European Airways, the General Post Office, ROSPA and other commercial clients. Her work is typified by a joyful illustrative style and is much sought after today. A higher resolution image is available to view on request.
