Post Office Radio-Telephone Services
Leslie Macdonald GillA wonderful, original, poster map showing Post Office Radio Telephone Services commissioned by the General Post Office and designed by Leslie MacDonald Gill, 1935. The detailed map shows Britain at the centre of a global communications network stretching to South America, Japan, USA, South Africa and New Zealand. Along the base are a series of charming vignettes depicting Rugby Radio Station (RRS), RRS Main Power Station, the Faraday Building and International Telephone Exchange (London), RRS Aerial Timing Inductance and RRS Demountable Valve. The poster was printed in two sizes, with this example being the larger of the two. It came from the estate of MacDonald Gill and would have been retained by Gill as a reference copy. Rare.
