Original protest poster, Fight For Your Right To Vote, Keep GLC Working For London, 1985. The Greater London Council (GLC) was the top-tier local government administrative body for Greater London from 1965 to 1986. It was dissolved by the Conservative Government in what was widely seen as a politically motivated attack on the socialist agenda of the council’s leader, Ken Livingstone. This poster relates to the abolition of scheduled elections to the council in 1985 – a precursor to eventual abolition. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
