Original Tube Car format poster protesting at the forced closure of the Greater London Council (GLC) in 1984. The GLC was the elected body responsible for administering the British capital, but in the early 1980s the Left-leaning Council found itself at odds with the ruling Conservative government and faced abolition. The GLC employed award-winning advertising agency Boase Massimi Pollitt to counter government claims and resist closure. The resulting poster campaign, under the slogan ‘Say No To No Say’, appeared on prime-site hoardings, as full page newspaper ads and in Tube trains. An historically significant and uncommon poster, represented in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
