An uncommon original railway poster painted by Claude Buckle (1905-1973) for the London Midland & Scottish Railway in about 1935. The unusual design features figures from across the ages set against the unchanging beauty of the English Lake District. At the base is a quote from the American writer G E Woodberry reaffirming the message that natural beauty survives beyond human existence. The whole design is set within a coloured border with the crest and logo of the LMS in red. The poster has a significant repaired tear in the bottom third. Restored and mounted on linen.
