Camping CoachesBarber £300.00
Original, vintage, British Railways poster advertising Camping Coaches for ‘delightful and inexpensive holidays’. Redundant passenger coaches were converted into Camping Coaches for holidaymakers from the 1930s onwards. Situated at rural railway stations in picturesque locations, families were encouraged to arrive by train and make use of the railway to explore the local area. This example, which includes a charming artwork by Barber and photographs of the actual accommodation on offer, was recently rediscovered in a loft in west London, together with a collection of posters, ephemera, and drawings from the former British Railways (Western Region) Publicity Office at Paddington.
