Royal Albert Bridge
Terence Cuneo (1907 - 1996)An original copy of one of Terence Cuneo’s most celebrated railway posters, commissioned by British Railways to mark the centenary of the Royal Albert Bridge in 1959. Built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel in 1859, the famous bridge links Cornwall and Devon and is still in use today. The painting shows a passenger train hauled by former Great Western Railway Castle Class locomotive Whittington Castle steaming over the bridge, with the River Tamar below. Two versions of this poster were published, with and without explanatory text. An outstanding poster in excellent condition. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
