An original Great Central Railway timetable advertising poster for the company’s Tourist Express from Chesterfield to Pwllheli (via Aberystwyth), commencing July 13th 1914. The design features a contemporary photograph of the seafront at Aberystwyth above a long list of stations that the Tourist Express train will be calling at. These include now closed stations, such as Eckington & Renishaw, together with destinations in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Shropshire, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Powys, Conwy and Gwynedd. Very probably a unique survivor of a service later curtailed by Britain’s entry into the First  World War (4th August 1914). A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
