Original promotional poster for Hastings, designed by the English illustrator and poster artist Bruce Angrave, c.1960. The design features a Norman soldier in reference to the Battle of Hastings (1066) where French forces defeated the Anglo-Saxon army, although for this poster we’re told that the town now welcomes ‘your invasion’ ! Angrave began designing posters in the 1930s. His many clients included railway companies and the wartime Ministry of Information. A higher resolution image is available to view on request.
