An original letter press notice announcing a public meeting to discuss the extension of the Mid-Eastern and Great Northern Junction Railway from Sutton Bridge to King’s Lynn, 1860. The railway was opened in 1864 and eventually became part of the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway. This stretch closed in 1959. A very rare, and probably unique, survivor, which wonderfully records the printers’ art of the time. The mix of Victorian typefaces is complemented by a woodblock print of an early passenger train. The poster has been professionally conserved and laid onto Japan backing paper. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
