One of the most significant nineteenth century British posters, Rowntree's Elect Cocoa was designed by the pioneering Beggarstaff Brothers (William Nicholson and his brother-in-law, James Pryde) in 1895. This version was published in 1899 as a colour plate in the “Les Maitres de l'Affiche" ("The Masters of the Poster") series directed by Jules Chéret in Paris. The print bears an embossed Les Maitres de l'Affiche stamp in the margin. Mounted in original, refurbished, frame.
