Talyllyn Railway. Timetables 1961Anon
Original timetable poster for the Welsh narrow gauge Talyllyn Railway, 1961. The railway (Welsh: Rheilffordd Talyllyn) runs from Towyn to Nant Gwernol near the village of Abergynolwyn. The line was opened in 1865 to carry slate from the quarries at Bryn Eglwys to Tywyn. In 1951 it became the first railway in the world to be preserved as a heritage railway by volunteers. This original poster was recently rediscovered in a loft in west London, together with a collection of posters, ephemera, and drawings from the former British Railways (Western Region) Publicity Office at Paddington.
