A rare, and significant, original London Underground football poster, Underground for Sport, by the British artist and lithographer Gerald Spencer Pryse, 1913. The design depicts spectators at a football match centred, unusually, on a female figure. The text reproduces a Spanish proverb, He knows nothing, who does not mix with the crowd, above a reminder that Underground trains run to Walham Green station (for Chelsea matches) and Gillespie Road station (for Arsenal). These tube stations were later renamed Fulham Broadway (1952) and Arsenal (1932). The poster was found in a distressed condition and has been expertly conserved and framed to a very high standard.
