Art Today
Hans UngerOriginal travel poster, Art Today, designed by Hans Unger and published by London Transport in 1966. An uncommon poster, intended to promote trips to see contemporary art in the Capital, with witty advertising copy and an adapted Tube map. According to the designer Brian Webb, Unger used "the geometric form of the map to signal new directions in contemporary art. The frontier stations include Kinetic Art, Combine Painting, Pop Art, Neo-Dada, Constructivism, and Junk Art. All can apparently be found in one of London’s galleries by the explorer equipped with ‘an open mind, Underground and bus maps and a sense of humour" [quoted in A Century of Art & Design. London Transport Posters, 2007].
