There could soon be a whole new ball game at the Jubilee Sports Hall
AnonOriginal protest poster, There could soon be a whole new ball game at the Jubilee Sports Hall, c. 1980. The design features an illustration of the proposed demolition of the Jubilee Sports Hall in Covent Garden, London. Built in 1897 as part of London’s famous fruit and vegetable market, Jubilee Hall became a sports facility after the market moved out of central London in 1974. This poster refers to the Greater London Council’s plans to replace the original building with offices and urges local people to write to the Minister of the Environment, Michael Heseltine, to voice their opposition. The campaign was ultimately successful, and Jubilee Hall remains a landmark of Covent Garden today. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
