The remains of an original and rare Southern Railway poster designed by Charles Shepherd. (‘Shep’) and printed in 1929. The poster promotes the Southern Railway’s famous ‘Golden Arrow’ cross-channel Pullman service. The striking Art Deco-inspired design features a stylised express locomotive transposed onto a graphic golden arrow motif. Very few copies of this poster have survived and none (that we can find) with the exact wording seen on this example. This poster was discovered under a linoleum flooring (read full details here) and is missing the bottom section and top right corner. It is not in ideal condition (!) but could potentially be restored or framed as it is. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
