An original London Transport poster for the Imperial War Museum, designed by Andrew Hall, 1965. The Pop Art inspired design features graphic representations of artefacts associated with the First and Second World Wars, including an observation balloon, bi-plane, Luger pistol and a ship painted in ‘dazzle’ camouflage. In contrast to the warlike objects depicted in the main image, the text at the base of the poster celebrates the Imperial War Museum as “a remarkable gallery of modern art”, with paintings by Epstein, Augustus John, Paul Nash, Christopher Nevinson, Stephen Bone, Rothenstein, Sargent, Spencer, Piper, William Roberts, Laura Knight, and Graham Sutherland.
