A simply stunning original watercolour artwork for the British Railways publicity booklet ‘Shakespeare Country’, hand painted by the leading poster artist Jack Merriott. The artwork, which would have been used to print the booklet, retains its original paper cover and acetate overlay with printed logo and title. This very rare survivor was recently rediscovered in a loft in west London, together with a collection of posters, ephemera, and drawings from the former Great Western Railway Publicity Office at Paddington.
