Very rare, previously unrecorded, original poster design for the Southern Railway by the respected Dutch print maker and commercial artist Pieter Irwin Brown (a.k.a. Pieter van Oort and Peter Vandordt). The Art Deco inspired background depicts an angled pattern of stylised Express steam locomotives, with timetable details printed in a defined box imposed on the background. This poster was discovered under a linoleum flooring (read full details here). The poster has been professionally conserved, but not over restored in order to retain its original integrity. There is considerable evidence of its life under the floor, including stains, loss and the imprint of other print items found with it. This is not a perfectly preserved, mint, condition poster, and a higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
