The original artwork for an illustrated Great Western Railway hotels or dining car menu, by the commercial artist Jackson Burton. Although not dated, the artwork is likely to have been commissioned c.1938-40 or just after the Second World War c.1946-47. Burton was a highly accomplished landscape artist whose commercial clients included the Port of London Authority and the LMS and GWR railway companies. The artwork has been protected by its original glassine-like cover and has the artist’s label on the reverse. A unique item saved from the former Great Western Railway publicity office at Paddington.
