poster map of Norfolk, published by British Railways (Eastern Region) and designed by Gordon Burrows in about 1951. The design features a wealth of charming vignettes to encourage the holidaymaker to visit the county’s many attractions. Unusually, the poster also includes the crests of the historic railway companies that first served the region, including the Eastern Counties and Eastern Union railways, together with the later Great Eastern, Midland Great Northern, and London & North Eastern companies

A really splendid original poster map of Norfolk, published by British Railways (Eastern Region) and designed by Gordon Burrows in about 1951. The design features a wealth of charming vignettes to encourage the holidaymaker to visit the county’s many attractions. Unusually, the poster also includes the crests of the historic railway companies that first served the region, including the Eastern Counties and Eastern Union railways, together with the later Great Eastern, Midland & Great Northern, and London & North Eastern companies. The poster was possibly issued to coincide with the Festival of Britain, with the lions and canopy surrounding the title receiving a typical ‘Festival’ treatment.
