The original artwork for a railway travel poster, Passengers of the Past - Admiral van Tromp by Austin Cooper, 1929. From a series commissioned by the London & North Eastern Railway in the late 1920s.

Maarten Harpertszoon Tromp or Maarten van Tromp (1598 – 1653) was an admiral in the Dutch navy during the Eighty Years War and the First Anglo-Dutch War. He is depicted here in seventeenth century attire about to board a modern LNER ferry.

The artwork is in degraded condition, but a rare opportunity to acquire an original poster artwork by the renowned railway poster artist Austin Cooper.
