An original, and remarkable, London Transport poster advising passengers of the ongoing improvements to the Metropolitan line, 1960. The works (originally scheduled to have begun before the Second World War) began in the mid-1950s and were not completed until the early Sixties. The poster refers to both completed and ongoing improvements to services, vehicles, track, and buildings, visually contrasting “the designs of today and yesterday”. The former includes the new ‘A’ Stock all aluminium bodied trains and modernist station and signal box design (probably Northwood and Amersham). A very optimistic, and progressive, poster, designed by William Fenton and printed by the Curwen Press.
