A magnificent, original, London Underground lithograph of the River Thames at Teddington, by the British painter, engraver and lithographer Anthony Raine Barker (1880-1963), 1914. The stunning design depicts a group of smartly dressed day-trippers enjoying a picnic next to their boat, with a Union Jack or Royal Thames Yacht Club ensign flying at the top of the mast. More boats and punts can be seen in the background, together with the Teddington weir. The poster was commissioned by London Underground as part of a series of larger-than-normal posters depicting London landmarks/places to visit painted by well-known artists, but without the usual advertising text. This version is printed on thick paper to a very high standard. A higher resolution image is available for viewing on request.
