The Avro Lancaster, commonly known as the Lancaster Bomber, entered service with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1942. It was designed and manufactured by Avro and became the iconic British bomber aircraft of the Second World War.
This Identification drawing is of the first type introduced in 1942 and is an exceptionally rare survivor.
